The idea for The BariCeutical Prescription first dawned on Silvia Demeter following her own weight-loss surgery. While, yes, she was losing weight, she began to experience various health issues which, it turned out, stemmed from vitamin and mineral deficiency. Her system was no longer able to tolerate certain foods that provide the nutrients essential to health and a sense of well-being. At the same time, she was unable to digest and absorb ordinary nutritional supplements. Her search for a solution led her to the study of nutrition and a group of physicians and nutritionists; specialists in weight-loss surgery and the importance of a lifetime of proper nutrition. Together, after much research, they arrived at the resolution: The BariCeutical Prescription. Today, a slim and healthy size 10, Sylvia Demeter follows her passion; to help those who, as she herself does, “live nourished, live thin, live well” through a system of support, healthy eating and The BariCeutical Prescription, the supplements she and her team of guiding doctors created to reverse the effects of bariatric nutritional deficiency.

Gaspar Rosario 

Gaspar Rosario is the Nurse Practicioner for New York University Medical Center's Program for Surgical Weight-Loss, one of the leading bariatric centers in the world. After a personal, lifelong struggle with obesity, Gaspar Rosario started his career in bariatrics after having his LAP BAND surgery. After he personally lost a hundred pounds, and gaining full confidence in the LAPBAND system as a long-term weight loss solution, Gaspar now shares his experiences from both perspectives as a patient and care provider. Gaspar Rosario's professional career spans from surgical ICU nursing, to nursing supervisor before joining his collaborating physicians, Dr. Christine Ren and Dr. George Fielding in managing thousands of bariatric patients. Mr. Rosario earned his Bachelors in Nursing from Lehman College, CUNY and his Master’s Degree in Nursing Science, ANP from Hunter College in New York City. A member of The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Gaspar is actively involved in proctoring surgical residents and clinicians in the art of performing LAP BAND adjustments. Gaspar is an active participant in bariatric research and has co-authored several papers and abstracts selected for ASMBS presentations.
